The Lighthouse

(our beach loft in Koksijde, Prins Albertplein 12)

“So fine was the morning except for a streak of wind here and there that the sea and sky looked all one fabric, as if sails were stuck high up in the sky, or the clouds had dropped down into the sea.” (Virginia Woolf, “To the Lighthouse”, 1927)

Our 5th floor design beach loft is located in a small residence (only 6 apartments) providing stunning panoramic ‘Spilliaert’ views over sea and beach. It features exquisite light due to the large windows and the open corner location, vintage Corbusier furniture, a bathroom with private hammam, and an open kitchen.

The Belgian West coast is especially known for Flander’s most spacious beaches, the dune reserve in De Panne, the gastronomy of Koksijde/St-Idesbald, and the countryside offers splendid biking tours, connecting the villages strewn across the rural landscape: one can bike from church tower to church tower, as well as along the picturesque, winding river the ‘Yser’.

“She had known happiness, exquisite happiness, intense happiness, and it silvered the rough waves a little more brightly, as daylight faded, and the blue went out of the sea and it rolled in waves of pure lemon which curved and swelled and broke upon the beach and the ecstasy burst in her eyes and waves of pure delight raced over the floor of her mind…” (Virginia Woolf, “To the Lighthouse”)
